Worldschooling Group Trips and Cruises for Homeschoolers
Worldschooling is our passion
You know your kids weren't meant to learn about the world from a textbook. What if there was a place where being different was exactly what made you belong?
Picture this: Your child confidently ordering gelato in Italian. Making lifelong friends with kids from five different countries. Discovering ancient Mayan ruins with wonder instead of worksheets. Coming home with stories that light up every dinner conversation for months. This is what happens on our worldschooling group trips.
Each adventure gives homeschooled families something they can't create on their own: a traveling tribe of like-minded kids and parents with a strong desire to see the world who also crave connection and belonging.
We like to compare it to family summer camp all over the world. Our kids call it "The Millennial Childhood" experience because they get what we, the parents, had but they could only dream of: real independence, authentic friendships, and learning that happens through living amazing adventures together.
The result? Kids who are confident, curious, and connected. Parents who finally feel part of a community that celebrates different choices. Families who come home closer, braver, and absolutely certain that choosing this path was the best decision they ever made.
Worldschooling group trips are a perfect opportunity to spend time with like-minded families, make deep connections and learn from each other

Frequently Asked Questions
Worldschooling is an educational approach that uses travel, real-world experiences, and global exposure as core components of learning. It’s not defined by a specific curriculum or teaching method. Instead, it’s based on the idea that children (and adults) learn deeply and meaningfully by engaging directly with the world around them.
Worldschooling, among its many forms, could look like:
Some families follow a structured academic plan while traveling. Others take a more flexible, interest-led approach. Most find a balance somewhere in between.
Worldschooling emphasizes adaptability, critical thinking, and cultural awareness. It supports learning in real time — through challenges, discoveries, and shared family experiences. Whether you’re visiting one new country a year or living on the road full time, if your family is intentionally learning through the world, you’re worldschooling.
Yes — our cruises are specifically designed with homeschooling and worldschooling families in mind. We refer to them as worldschooling cruises because they support a lifestyle of learning through travel, connection, and cultural immersion, but they are open to anybody who embraces learning through doing.
While we don’t offer formal homeschooling classes onboard, these trips naturally create a rich educational environment. Here’s how:
Most families bring their own curriculum, learning materials, or interest-led projects — and it’s common for kids to study or create together while onboard. However, many also find that the cruise itself offers so many enriching opportunities that formal academics often take a back seat.
In short: yes, we offer cruises that support homeschooling families — with the freedom to learn in your own way, surrounded by a like-minded community, while exploring the world together.
A worldschooling cruise includes everything you might find on a traditional homeschool cruise—community, family-friendly experiences, and opportunities for learning—but with a broader, globally immersive approach.
Homeschool cruises often focus on academics, with structured classes or workshops onboard. In contrast, worldschooling cruises prioritize experiential, place-based learning. Families explore multiple countries in one trip, engage with different cultures, and learn organically through travel, connection, and real-world exposure.
There’s no formal curriculum or required programming. Each family follows their own rhythm—some bring schoolwork, others lean into unschooling or project-based learning. What connects everyone is a shared belief that meaningful education happens both inside and outside the classroom.
Many families searching for “homeschool cruises” find that our worldschooling cruises offer deeper learning, more flexibility, and a stronger sense of community—all while traveling to incredible destinations without the stress of typical trip logistics.
All of our group cruises are organized by Worldschooling Journeys, a division of Every Avenue Travel. We work with trusted cruise lines and create a framework for community, connection, and learning tailored to homeschooling and worldschooling families.
Our cruises are not guided or led trips. While Elena Ollick (founder of Every Avenue Travel) may join some sailings, she does not attend all of them — and no trip depends on a single leader. Cruises are designed to be self-contained and flexible, with families free to follow their own rhythm while benefiting from a shared experience with like-minded travelers.
That said, our team is actively involved in supporting each trip from start to finish. You’ll have 24/7 access to our experienced support team, who maintain direct contact with the cruise line and local excursion providers throughout your journey.
We provide:
Land-based trips are either organized directly by our team or in collaboration with local tour operators who have deep knowledge of the region. These trips are more structured than cruises and always include experienced guides or group leaders who are familiar with the local culture, language, and logistics.
Yes — the cruises shown on the homepage are just a small selection.
We offer over 40 different worldschooling and family-friendly cruises, each designed to support connection, ease, and real-world learning. The homepage slider simply features a few of our current or upcoming group favorites, but it’s far from the full list.
You can view all current cruise options — including pricing, dates, and itineraries — on our Trips page.
In addition to our hosted group sailings, we can also help you research and book individual family cruises (not part of a group) if you're looking for a more private option. Just reach out — we're happy to guide you toward the best fit for your family's needs and travel style.
Yes, absolutely! We’re happy to help with private travel arrangements for individual families.
Booking through us supports a small, family-run business rather than a large corporation — at no extra cost to you. All of our bookings are priced at the standard market rate (the same you’d find on your own), but with the added benefit of personalized service and expert guidance. We work on a commission basis directly with hotels, cruise lines, and tour operators, so you get full support without paying more.
Whether you're planning a private adventure or your schedule doesn’t align with our current group offerings, we’ll help you find the right fit and take care of the booking process from start to finish.
We currently specialize in:
Just send us a message with your preferences — including destination, dates, interests, and any special requests — and we’ll curate a list of options tailored to your family’s travel style.
Each of our cruises and land trips has its own dedicated page with full details, pricing information, and a booking inquiry form. To start the process, simply visit the page for the cruise you’re interested in and submit the form.
Here’s how booking works step-by-step:
You’re welcome to reach out to us at any point via WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, or Email — contact links are available at the bottom of each page.
Booking with us means you’re not only joining the cruise — you’re being placed into our worldschooling group, with access to all private excursions, meetups, and support.

No — there is no additional cost to book a worldschooling cruise through us.
We operate as licensed travel agents and book directly through the cruise lines. That means the price you pay for your cabin is the same as booking directly with the cruise line — but with the added benefit of:
We’re compensated directly by the cruise lines via commission, so you get all the added value without paying more.
If you’ve found our support helpful, we also encourage you to book non-group travel (hotels, cruises, tours) through us. Every additional booking helps sustain the work that goes into organizing these worldschooling experiences — from researching destinations and building relationships with local providers to coordinating logistics and supporting families on the ground.
Your support makes this community possible, and we’re grateful for it.
No — to be part of our official worldschooling cruise group, your booking must be made through us.
Families who book independently through the cruise line (or another travel agent) are welcome to sail on the same ship, but they will not be included in the group activities, private excursions, or communication channels we coordinate for our travelers.
Organizing these group experiences takes significant time and behind-the-scenes effort — including researching routes, arranging private excursions, negotiating perks, and building a strong, well-matched community onboard. We do not charge families anything extra to be part of these groups. Instead, we’re compensated directly by the cruise line when you book through us.
Booking through us also gives you access to:
If you’re interested in joining a worldschooling group cruise, please contact us directly — we’re happy to help find the best cabin and get you connected.
Our worldschooling cruises are community-led experiences, not guided tours or hubs. Cruise ships are already fully operated environments with professional staff, kids’ clubs, entertainment, activities, and excursions organized by the cruise line itself. Because of this, there is no need for a paid tour guide or trip leader onboard.
We intentionally keep our cruises priced at the original cruise line rates. If we added hosts or leaders traveling with the group, it would require charging families significantly more. Our goal is to keep these trips accessible so more worldschooling families can participate.
Instead, our role is to support and organize the community experience. The Worldschooling Journeys team is formed of 12 people who all help coordinate things like:
* pre-cruise hotel options
* travel and flight tips
* group chats for connecting with other families
* pre-cruise meetups
* onboard meetups and gatherings
* group dinners
* private port excursions
Cruise ships are designed to offer a huge variety of activities every day, and each family can decide what they want to join and how much time they want to spend with the group. Some families spend a lot of time together, while others prefer a mix of group time and independent exploration.
This structure allows families to build connections naturally and shape their own experience, while still having the support of our team and the opportunity to connect with the worldschooling community. We highly encourage the families to be active in the group because, from experience, you will get exactly as much as you put into the community.
If you’re looking for a trip with daily guidance, structured schedules, and a dedicated tour leader, one of our land-based Worldschooling Journeys trips may be a better fit.
Our cruises are designed to be flexible, affordable, and community-driven — so every family can participate in the way that works best for them.
Yes — but not in the traditional classroom sense.
Our trips are built around experiential learning, where education happens through exploration, cultural immersion, and hands-on discovery. Instead of formal lessons or curriculum, families learn by engaging directly with new environments, people, and places.
Examples of real-world learning include:
Many families also bring their own academic materials or follow interest-led learning while onboard. The result is an educational experience that’s flexible, meaningful, and often more memorable than anything taught in a classroom.
It depends on the family.
Some families bring along light academics such as math workbooks, reading assignments, or writing projects. Others choose to take a complete break from formal schoolwork and focus on experiential learning during the trip.
There is no required curriculum or academic structure on our cruises. However, it’s common for kids to naturally form study groups or collaborative learning spaces onboard — especially when they discover shared interests.
Families are encouraged to follow their own educational rhythm, whether that includes structured learning or simply soaking in the experience as it unfolds.
We keep scheduled group activities simple and optional, so families can enjoy both connection and freedom during the cruise.
Every sailing includes:
Beyond that, the cruise ship itself offers a full schedule of entertainment, kids’ clubs, and activities — which families are free to enjoy together or separately. In our experience, children make friends quickly, and adults naturally form smaller connection groups based on shared interests and energy levels.
We also try to arrange special enrichment opportunities, such as a behind-the-scenes talk with the ship’s engineer or staff, though these are subject to cruise line approval.
Dining is flexible: we link all cabins under the group reservation so it’s easy to sit together or make your own plans.
Each family can engage as much or as little as they choose — our structure creates space for connection without adding pressure or over-scheduling.
It’s a common concern — especially for those new to cruising — but many families discover that sea days are actually some of the most enjoyable parts of the trip.
Unlike port days, which are focused on off-ship exploration and can be physically tiring, sea days offer a slower pace and more opportunities to:
On sailings with multiple sea days, families often report feeling more connected and settled — with time to build relationships, follow interests, and fully enjoy the cruise experience without rushing.
In fact, some of our most memorable group trips have included extended stretches at sea, and many families are surprised at how much they look forward to them once onboard.
Yes — we organize private group excursions on all of our cruises and in all of the ports, unless the group specifically chooses not to participate (which is very rare).
These excursions are a core part of the Worldschooling Journeys experience. They’re thoughtfully designed to be:
We have a dedicated team member whose full-time role is planning and coordinating these excursions. That means every outing is researched, vetted, and aligned with our values — enriching, safe, and community-oriented.
Key details:
Our families often say these shared excursions are a highlight of their trip — offering deeper learning, stronger bonds, and unforgettable memories.
We plan excursions with one goal in mind: to offer meaningful, family-friendly experiences that are both educational and affordable.
Each excursion is hand-selected based on:
We handle all logistics — researching, vetting, negotiating group rates, and designing the itinerary — so families can simply show up and enjoy the experience.
How pricing works:
Excursion costs are based on the type of activity, regional cost of services, and group size. The more families who join, the more the total cost is shared — which often lowers the per-person price.
Typical price ranges (per person, USD):
Regional pricing also plays a role. For example, a guided tour in Hawaii or Norway may cost significantly more than a similar activity in mainland U.S. or Southeast Asia due to higher local operating costs. We always aim to keep pricing reasonable for the value provided.
Excursion details — including pricing, activity level, age recommendations, and booking info — are shared in the cruise’s WhatsApp group in advance. Participation is optional, so you can choose what fits your family best.
Yes — communication is a key part of every group experience we organize, and we make sure you’re connected before and during the trip.
For cruises, we provide:
For land trips, all families are added to a dedicated WhatsApp group ahead of time to discuss the itinerary, ask questions, and build connections before meeting in person.
This structure allows for flexibility — you can engage as much or as little as you like — while making it easy to connect, coordinate, and feel part of a shared experience.
Most travelers — even those prone to motion sickness — do not experience issues on cruises.
Modern cruise ships are very large and equipped with powerful stabilizers that minimize movement. The crew also monitors weather closely and adjusts course when possible to avoid rough seas.
On typical sailings, including ocean crossings, families might experience one or two mildly rocky days over a two-week period. For most people, it’s manageable and often unnoticeable.
That said, we do recommend packing seasickness medication or patches just in case — especially for sensitive travelers or first-time cruisers. These are rarely needed, but helpful to have on hand for peace of mind.
Every group is different — but in our experience, most families find their people pretty quickly.
The key is participation. Families who engage with the group — whether through the WhatsApp chat, meetups, excursions, or just informal conversations — tend to build meaningful connections. Some bond deeply with a few others, while some enjoy the wider group energy. There’s room for both.
We’ve had:
You don’t need to “fit in” a certain way — just show up as yourself. Be open, respectful, and willing to connect, and you’ll likely find others doing the same.
And remember: the goal of these trips isn’t to force connection — it’s to create space for connection to happen naturally.

At Worldschooling Journeys, our mission is to create meaningful, connection-based travel experiences for homeschooling and worldschooling families who want more than just a vacation.
We believe that learning happens best through real-world experiences, especially when shared with a like-minded community. Our vision is to build a mobile village — one where families can explore the world together, support one another, and give their children the freedom to grow in environments that are rich with culture, diversity, and natural curiosity.
Whether it’s a multi-country cruise, a seasonal farm stay, RV caravanning, sailing, skiing, or slow travel — we aim to design journeys that reflect the full spectrum of what families want to experience together. We focus on:
We’re building more than trips — we’re building a lifestyle of freedom, connection, and learning that families can return to again and again.

Yes — we offer flexible payment plans for all cruise bookings.
You’re welcome to divide your payments in any way that works for you, as long as the full balance is paid by the final due date, which is typically 90 days before the cruise departs (this may vary slightly by cruise line). Just let us know if you'd like a payment plan, and we’ll schedule it to match your preferences.
If you don’t request a custom plan, we’ll simply charge the initial deposit to lock in your rate and cabin. After that, the remaining balance will be automatically charged by the cruise line on the final due date. We’ll always communicate that due date clearly with you before booking, so there are no surprises.
This setup allows you to book confidently — whether you prefer to pay in full, break it up over time, or set it and forget it.
We take payment security and transparency seriously — and we’re happy to walk you through exactly how it works.
For Cruises:
All cruise bookings are made through Fora Travel, a licensed agency with IATA number 33520476. Our team operates under strict internal protocols, and all employees are bound by NDAs to protect your personal and financial information.
When you're ready to book:
For Land Trips:
Land trip payments are processed through WeTravel, a secure third-party booking platform that allows you to pay directly using a credit card or other secure methods. You’ll complete the booking yourself through a private, secure link.
Additional Tips:
Your financial security and confidence are important to us — and we're here to make the process as smooth and transparent as possible.
We recommend having travel insurance, but whether you need a separate policy depends on your situation.
Start by checking with your credit card company — many cards include trip cancellation, interruption, and medical coverage when you use them to book travel.
If your card doesn’t offer enough protection, a separate policy can be a smart choice, especially for international travel or if you’re traveling with kids.
Our recommended provider: SafetyWing Nomad Insurance
You can buy a one-time policy or set up a subscription for ongoing coverage.
Yes. Major cruise lines can accommodate dietary needs, including celiac/gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, and other food allergies — as long as they’re informed in advance.
When you book through us, our team will pass your dietary requirements to the cruise line. Once onboard, your dining staff will be aware and take extra care with your meals. For serious allergies, we always recommend confirming again with the head waiter at your first meal.
Cruise kitchens are not always 100% allergen-free, but with proper notice, meals can be made safely and carefully.
Yes. You must have all required visas in place before embarkation — even if you don’t plan to get off the ship in certain ports.
Cruise lines are required to verify that all passengers are eligible to enter every country on the itinerary. If a visa is required for your nationality, you’ll need to obtain it before boarding, regardless of your plans at that stop.
Failure to provide the correct documentation may result in being denied boarding or disembarkation.
We’ll share the full list of scheduled ports for your cruise, but it’s your responsibility to confirm entry requirements based on your citizenship.
Each traveler is fully responsible for securing their own visas and travel documents based on their nationality and the countries on the trip itinerary.
We strongly recommend checking entry requirements early — including passport validity, visa processing times, and any special conditions. Most countries require that your passport be valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date.
While we’re happy to point you to helpful resources, we cannot provide legal advice or process visas on your behalf. Always consult official government websites or a trusted visa service for up-to-date information.
Cruise ships are well-equipped to handle most medical situations. Every ship has an onboard medical center staffed with licensed doctors and nurses available 24/7 for emergencies or general care. Fees apply for medical visits, so we recommend having travel medical insurance or checking your credit card for coverage.
If someone in your family feels unwell, simply contact the ship’s medical team — they can assess the situation and provide treatment or next steps.
For minor illnesses (colds, seasickness, etc.), onboard staff are usually helpful and discreet. For more serious conditions, the medical team will coordinate care, and if needed, arrangements can be made at the next port.
We always recommend carrying basic medicine with you, such as for sore colds or the flu.
Each cruise is different, but our groups typically include a wide range of ages — from toddlers to teens, and even some young adults in their late teens or early 20s.
We always share a kid roster on each cruise page, using simple shorthand like “3g, 5b” (meaning a 3-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy). This gives families a general idea of who’s coming without sharing personal information.
While we can’t guarantee specific age groups on any sailing, we consistently see strong connections form across ages. Younger kids often enjoy the ship’s kids club, while older kids and teens gravitate toward study groups, game nights, pool fun or any other onboard entertainment.
Imagine traveling with a group of other worldschooling families: kids all become instant friends celebrating their differences and sharing their passions, adults get support from each others on their unique lifestyle without judgement and get exposed to new different ideas on worldschooling lifestyles.

Shared Learning Experiences
Worldschooling group travel allows families to explore new destinations together, creating opportunities for collective learning and discovery, gaining a new perspective through interaction with a diverse group of kids.

Both children and parents can build meaningful relationships with other worldschooling families, enhancing their social skills and creating a network of friends from around the world.

The shared experiences and adventures create lasting memories that kids and parents will cherish forever. Our trips foster independence in kids and give parents a much needed break.

If you would love to connect with other world-schooling families, this is the group for you.
